As an anti bullying expert, Abbi has appeared on numerous radio and television programmes including ITV1’s “This Morning”, ITV1’s “Sharon Osbourne Show”, Sky One's "Mending Broken Britain" BBC News, ITV1’s “Central News” and BBC “Video Nation”.  There have been numerous local BBC and independent radio appearances including BBC Radio Leicester, BBC Radio Nottingham, Heart FM, Leicester Sound, Rock FM and Touch FM to name a few.   Abbi is excellent in front of camera and hopes to pursue a career as a television presenter once she graduates from further education.

This gutsy teenager regularly contributes to newspapers and magazines such as The Daily Mail, The Sun, The Daily Mirror, The Daily Star, News of the World Sunday Magazine, The Telegraph Magazine, Bliss Magazine, Closer Magazine, Hello Magazine  and a variety of regional newspapers.  Abbi is the Editor-in-Chief and writer for her own website www.abs-kids.co.uk as well contributing to a chapter for a book written by Polly Clarkson called “Beating the Bullies” published by John Blake Publishing Ltd.

Abbi’s lively and expressive personality ensures that she often appears as a keynote speaker at events, conferences and award ceremonies including most recently the  “Young Enterprise Innovation Awards 2008”. Abbi’s public speaking performances are so slick and professional she often receives looks of amazement when people learn she is only 16.

So why is Abbi such an expert on anti-bullying? Well sadly Abbi knows first hand the devastating effect of being bullied.

Abbi was targeted by bullies for the first 6 years of her school life. Being threatened, punched, hit, slammed up against a brick wall, called names, picked on after school, left out of groups, sent threatening emails and many other horrific experiences were all part of Abbi’s school day. Abbi blamed herself and never told her parents, family or friends. She kept all her frightening experiences bottled up inside and thought by saying nothing the problem would eventually go away. It didn’t.

Finally Abbi did pluck up the courage to confide in her Mum and Dad.  She moved schools, got involved in the school council at her new school, volunteered for a peer support scheme and attended various workshops on bullying.  The workshops progressed to conferences and before long Abbi was selected to be part of a Leicestershire Youth Group to carry on her anti bullying work. Abbi has attended the Headteachers conference in Nottingham giving advice on how they can help children being bullied as well as meeting with Directors of Education, Mayors and Ministers to try to combat the growing problem with bullies. After working in anti bullying for the past 6 years Abbi became part of the Leicestershire Anti-Bullying Student Team.

At the same time Abbi, who now loves school, decided to set up her own website www.abs-kids.co.uk.  A unique service which helps children being bullied, parents, teachers and even those doing the bullying. Abbi funds her website by running Abs Kids Soccer Camp which teaches kids to play together and channel their energies into something fun.
